Points ski pass

It’s like a prepaid card. You buy points and when you run out, you just go home or buy more. The more you buy at once, the cheaper they are (per point)

Benefits:

They gracefully ignore the crowds and queues – whether it’s crowded or not, whether you go fast or slow, the climb costs the same. They are available the entire ski season – you are tired or injured – no problem, the points stay there. You can also sell them, if you find someone, and olx.ro is an easy way to get rid of the pass.

Disadvantages:

For fast skiers, on off-peak days, they are more expensive compared to timed cards.

You always have the feeling that it is expensive to climb.

But How much does it cost to actually go up in Poiana Brasov?

This also depends on the day you’re doing it:
There are days when the cableways cancel x points per climb and days when they cancel x-1 points per climb. The only cableway that doesn’t discount are the bottomlifts (Bradu, Ruia and Stadion)

The cheaper days vary according to some old algorithms, but basically, when it’s a holiday, or a weekend, or simply a season high, it’s the normal fare. All the rest are cheaper and starting March, they’re all x-1 points.

Days Pass

This can be assimilated to the Bulgarian or Turkey all-inclusive, but not really.

Benefits:

You’re relaxed – the money were spent. Now it’s up to how many rides you can do. If it’s crowded and there’s queues, you can actually ski on the cheap side.

Disadvantages:

If there’s queues when going up, you’ll end up frustrated that you paid for the pass and just waiting in the queue instead of going up and skiing and…living the life. If you’re

Dacă e coadă la urcare, te frustrezi că ai dat banii aiurea pe cartelă și nu te dai.
Dacă ești avaricious, you’ll want to ride as fast and as many times as possible, thus risking injuries and various accidents, especially at the end of the day, when your muscles are fatigued.
It doesn’t matter it’s a weekend, a cheap day or not, this pass costs the same.

The hourly passes (consecutive or not)

These are the favorite passes for the locals who can bail work early or get there late just to get a half a day of skiing. For example, the 20 unconsecutive hours is really nice to have for the days when you want to ride fast, often and when there’s no queue. You just start an hour by entering a cableway and then fullspeed down, break down your record and then stop for a tea or just go home or to work. And you can do this all season long, or as long as these 20 hours can take you.

Hourly pass benefits

They have the same advantages as the days passes, if we compare with the points pass. The only difference is made by the time you’re in Poiana Brasov and how much of that time you want to spend skiing. Another possible advantage is that through the past seasons, they postponed the closing time, thus even though you can buy a pass that’s till 16:00, you can still go up until 17:30, which is really nice if you can handle that mogulish slope.

You can relax after buying it, the money are gone, now the only thing that matters is how many rides you can catch.
If there are no queues, then you can also get on the cheap side going up.

Hourly pass disadvantages

If there’s a queue going up, you’ll get frustrated for paying for queuing.
If you’re avaritious, you’ll want to ski as much as possible and that means as fast as possible, but that might get risky due to fatigue. And trust us, there’s no skipass more expensive than a total knee replacement.
It doesn’t matter it’s a weekend or not, it always costs the same.

Children (<12y.o.) pass prices

The children passes usually cost 50% less than the adult ones, but this season it’s more like 60%, because they round them up a little bit.

Where can you buy a ski pass in Poiana Brasov?

The cards are to be bought, recharged and verified at the cashiers in the resort plus a few other places.

– The Telecabina Capra Neagră POS (Point of sale) – has three windows and it’s usually the fastest one.

The Telegondola Postăvaru Express POS has about 3 or 4 windows and it’s usually the most crowded.

The Telecabina Kanzel POS – is absurdly enough, inside the building, so when you want to buy a card, you can’t actually get in because there’s usually hundreds of skiers queuing up. That’s only when they’re queuing up, obviously.

The skipass machine in Poiana Mică parking building – this is usually not crowded at all, but it doesn’t have all the passes options and you can’t check if or how many points or hours you’ve still got on yours.

The Poiana Brasov ski pass can be bought from one of the POS above, but once in possesion of the physical card, you can also buy points or hourly passes, or anything, online at skibv.ro

Local advice

When you have a points pass, if you’re only left with 5,4,3,2 or 1 point, you can go up on ANY cableway, regardless of how many points it cancels. For example, if you get a 10 point pass, you can use it 2 times for a cableway that cancels 6 points.  If you’re avaritious, you can calculate it to use it in a 3-3-3-6 points configuration, thus, benefiting from 15 points.
